Olive Bowl with Copper Inlay
This bowl was handmade from a local olive tree. The bowl blank was cut from an area of the tree where two branches converge, called a "crotch." The compression of wood fibers in this region creates amazing figure. Olivewood typically has multiple "imperfections" that need to be addressed, and this piece was no different. I used copper powder to fill the small cracks and voids throughout the bowl. The process of filling cracks is labor-intensive, but the final result is stunning.
