Mesquite Bowl with Purpleheart Bowtie Key and Copper Inlay

$149.00 Sold Out

This bowl was handmade from local and responsibly sourced mesquite wood. The blank for the bowl was carefully selected and cut in a quarter-sawn orientation, which means the grain orientation runs vertically throughout the bowl. Milling blanks in this fashion is rare with mesquite because of the trees' relatively small size and diameter.

This blank developed a crack during the drying process, which I addressed by inlaying copper powder and purpleheart wood bowtie keys. It's a labor-intensive process, but the results speak for themselves.

This bowl was meticulously crafted and will last for generations as a functional piece of art. It is suitable for food service.
