Mesquite Salad Bowl with Pedestal

This bowl was hand-turned from locally harvested mesquite wood. I chose to leave some of the lighter-colored sapwood (the outermost part of the tree) because I like its contrast against the rich reddish-brown hues of the heartwood (the inner part of the tree). The bowl is elevated from the table by a small pedestal, allowing a complete view of the bowl's form. Several small cracks were filled with turquoise.

Mesquite is renowned for its density and stability, and it holds up great to repeated use as a food serving bowl.

Dimensions: 10 1/8" diameter x 3 3/4" tall.

Maintenance and care: This bowl was finished with food-safe walnut oil. Clean with soap and water, and dry after each use. When the wood begins to look dry, apply mineral oil, walnut oil, or any food-grade oil you choose. If the bowl feels rough after use, a quick sanding with 600-grit sandpaper will smooth it out. This bowl was handmade and likes to be hand-washed. Please do NOT put it in the dishwasher.
